In this 6-week class, students will come away with a deeper connection to our food sources and how they are produced. Students will learn basic gardening skills and how to cook with what they grow! You'll learn how to chop veggies and make delicious sauces, salads, pasta, and more with herbs from our kitchen garden. Over the next 6 weeks, we will travel around the world through food and ingredients and explore specific regions', history, and importance. Theme: kitchen Skills & Independence Week 1: Basic Knife Skills- Frittata making & Spring Planting Week 2: Crispy Chive Dumplings and Garden Stir-fry (history of dumplings) Week 3: Indian Tikka Masala with Naan Bread ( significance of curry) Week 4: Homemade Hand-Rolled Pasta with Spring Peas and Bacon ( Pasta! where did it originate) Week 5: Arroz Con Pollo with Baked Churros ( cultural fusions of dishes) Week 6: Iron Chef Challenge-students will work in a group to plan and prepare a meal using a surprise set of ingredients without adult help. ( they will be prepared for this!) Notes: Students will eat the lunch they created together in the last 20 minutes of class. This 6-week class is drop-off with 2 instructors per small group.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY? Due to the fact that food must be purchased ahead of time for classes and camps, we do not issue refunds. A class exchange may be made for any class up to 3 days before the class date. No refunds, returns, or exchanges will be given 3 days or less before the class date. Meraki reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes. In the event a class is canceled, all students will be notified and full refunds given. For Summer Camps, No refunds, returns or exchanges will be given.
