Service Description

In this 6-week class, students will come away with a deeper connection to our food sources and how they are produced. Students will learn basic gardening skills and how to cook with what they grow! You'll learn how to chop veggies and make delicious sauces, salads, pasta, and more with herbs from our kitchen garden. Menu and Lessons : Week 1: Gardening in the low desert in winter. Growing According to our climate Harvest Citrus - Lemon Herb Chicken with Creamy Orzo & Frosted Lemon “ crumble” Cookies Week 2: Understanding what plants need to thrive, Emulsifying and creating sauces and dressings Harvest Lettuce- Salad Bar Salad with custom dressing, Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Garden Pesto. Week 3: Gardening Maintenance and Exploring Recipes. How to read a recipe and change it according to preference Harvest Cilantro, Peppers, Lime- Chicken Tinga tacos with all the fixings, Un-fried Ice Cream Week 4: Understanding Harvesting and Baking Basics Harvest Oregano and herbs- Garlic Bread Sticks & Creamy Sundried Tomato Pasta Week 5: What is organic Gardening? Sautéing & Roasting Harvest: Collards, Spinach, Kale – Sauteed Greens with garlic, Cheddar Biscuits, Crispy Oven- fried chicken Fingers Week 6: Preserving and storing our harvest, seed collection & Iron Chef Challenge Harvest: Broccoli Students in groups will create a dish using the ingredients of the season for a fun cooking challenge! Notes: Students will eat lunch together during the last 20 minutes of class with the food they have prepared. This is a drop-off class with 10 students max.

Cancellation Policy

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY? Due to the fact that food must be purchased ahead of time for classes and camps, we do not issue refunds. A class exchange may be made for any class up to 3  days before the class date. No refunds, returns, or exchanges will be given 3 days or less before the class date.  Meraki reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes. In the event a class is canceled, all students will be notified and full refunds given.  For  Summer Camps, No refunds, returns or exchanges will be given.
